TRAINING & TIMER SETTINGS
What to look for in a free boxing timer app
The useful test for a boxing timer is whether it supports your session without needing constant attention. This is a feature checklist from the UFT team, not a ranking or a claim that we have tested every competing app.
Editable work, rest and round count
A timer should let you set all three independently. You may want six rounds on the bag, three shadow rounds or a short custom drill. Preparation gives you time to put the phone down before the first work period; a warm-up or cooldown is a separate part of the sequence.
Cues you can hear with your music
Check the bell and voice cues at the volume you actually train with. UFT plays timer cues alongside music and offers optional ducking to lower the music during a cue. Choose a warning time that matches the planned session instead of relying on a silent visual countdown.
The homepage’s bell preview lets you hear an actual app sound before downloading.
Controls that suit training
UFT includes shake, proximity and volume-button timer controls, plus screen locking to prevent accidental taps. Set up the method that works for your device before putting gloves on, and test pause and resume during a short trial round.
A readable screen and clear pricing
Look for large numerals, a visible phase label and a round count you can read from your phone’s position. UFT offers light and dark appearance with country-themed numerals and voice cues.
UFT is currently free on iOS and Android, without ads or subscriptions. You can explore its timer library on the website before downloading.
