Kickboxing round timer settings

Kickboxing round settings depend on the rule set. A promotion’s three-minute professional format is not interchangeable with an amateur ring-sport format. UFT includes named K-1 and GLORY presets plus bag and pad training, and lets you edit the clock for the event you are preparing for.

Kickboxing round format

In the app, K-1 and GLORY use three three-minute rounds with one-minute breaks. GLORY Title uses five rounds. K-1 also stores a three-minute extension-round setting. An extension is conditional on the bout’s rules and result; it is not another scheduled work round. WAKO’s published amateur ring rules use three two-minute rounds with one-minute breaks, which you can save as a custom timer.

One sport, several rule sets

The app keeps promotion names visible because choosing ‘kickboxing’ alone does not specify round duration. K-1, GLORY and WAKO publish their own rules. Before making a competition-practice timer, identify the organizer and whether the bout is a title fight or a tournament match. Then match the scheduled rounds; treat overtime separately.

Every Kickboxing preset in UFT

These settings come from the app’s timer library. Rest is between work periods; the timer finishes after the last work period. Preparation is separate. Custom timers can change the count, work time and rest.

Competition-style formats

K-1

3 × 3:00 / 1:00 rest

Three scheduled work rounds with an extension setting stored separately. Do not count the optional overtime as a guaranteed fourth round.

Separate overtime setting: 3:00. Not included in the scheduled work sequence.

Glory

3 × 3:00 / 1:00 rest

The app’s three-round GLORY non-title template. Confirm the bout format, especially for tournament events or special rules.

Glory · Title

5 × 3:00 / 1:00 rest

Five scheduled rounds with the same three-minute work and one-minute rest settings as the non-title preset.

Training formats

Heavy Bag

5 × 3:00 / 1:00 rest

Five rounds for a solo kickboxing bag session. Use each work period for a defined punch-and-kick sequence or movement task.

Pad Rounds

5 × 3:00 / 1:00 rest

Five partner pad rounds with spoken kickboxing combo calls enabled. Turn off the calls when the pad holder is setting the sequence.

Choose a timer for your training

Heavy Bag supplies five rounds for practicing combinations independently. Pad Rounds uses the same timing with spoken kickboxing combos enabled. You can use one round for a particular combination and the next for its defensive response. When a class mixes kicks, punches and conditioning, a multi-block custom timer can give each segment its own work and rest length.

  1. Open the timer library in UFT and select Kickboxing.
  2. Choose the named preset that matches the session. For a different sequence, create or customize a timer in My Timers.
  3. Check the round count, work and rest. Set preparation, warnings and optional warm-up or cooldown before starting.

Kickboxing timer questions

Are kickboxing rounds two or three minutes?

It depends on the rule set. UFT’s K-1 and GLORY presets use three-minute rounds. WAKO amateur ring rules use two-minute rounds; create a custom timer for that format.

Does a K-1 extension count in the regular session total?

No. UFT’s K-1 preset stores overtime separately. The regular three-round training sequence is eleven minutes including its two breaks, before preparation.
