Taekwondo round and kicking drill timers

Taekwondo kyorugi practice uses a round clock; kicking drills need shorter repeated intervals. The same app can handle both, but the work periods serve different tasks. A match-length round lets you practice movement and exchanges, while a drill interval can concentrate on one kick or one leg before a reset.

Taekwondo round format

UFT’s World Taekwondo preset schedules three two-minute rounds with one-minute breaks and a points scoreboard setting. WT’s published best-of-three format uses those round and rest lengths. A best-of-three contest can finish after two round wins, so three scheduled rounds on a practice timer do not mean every actual bout lasts all three.

Round wins and the practice clock

For a fixed training session, running all three rounds gives the class a predictable sequence. For match simulation, stop when the applicable winning condition is reached and pause for called stoppages. The preset supplies time and a scoring mode; it does not replace the event’s judging, division rules or referee decisions. Team events and younger divisions can use different durations.

These settings come from the app’s timer library. Rest is between work periods; the timer finishes after the last work period. Preparation is separate. Custom timers can change the count, work time and rest.

Kicking Drills

8 × 1:00 / 0:20 rest

Eight one-minute kicking drills with twenty-second resets. The break can signal a leg, partner or target change.

Choose a timer for your training

Kicking Drills uses eight one-minute work periods with twenty-second breaks. Choose a task before the bell, such as a specific combination or alternating legs. Use the short break to change partner roles or reset the target. For a class that combines technical work and kyorugi practice, save separate timers or assemble custom blocks with the appropriate duration for each part.

  1. Open the timer library in UFT and select Taekwondo.
  2. Choose the named preset that matches the session. For a different sequence, create or customize a timer in My Timers.
  3. Check the round count, work and rest. Set preparation, warnings and optional warm-up or cooldown before starting.
